It's official. We've bought a house! I feel a rush of excitement and a bit of trepidation as we venture into the world of home ownership and all the highs and lows that come with it. I was forewarned, and am currently experiencing a mix of thrilling optimism - filling up pinterest boards, drawing floor plans for furniture placement and some day renovation plans, and looking online for lighting options, house numbers and all sorts of little things to 'fine tune' the place and make it more 'us'; and on the other hand, plagued with feelings of buyers remorse - 'It all happened so quickly! Did I just impulse buy a house?! This is not a sweater, I can't take it back. Do I even like this place?' But all in all, I do think it's going to be great :).
We'll also be moving into a whole new neighbourhood on the opposite side of the city, which is bittersweet - as much as I'm excited to explore all that the East side of the city has to offer, I'll be a little sad to leave our neighbourhood and all the familiar haunts and faces I've come to love around here. Luckily I've been able to explore the East side of the city (Beaches, Leslieville etc) a bit over the years, so do know some of the amazing gems I'll be able to take advantage of, but if any Eastsiders care to share any hidden ones, please do feel free ;) .
When I sat down and thought about it, I realized we've lived in this particular place longer than anywhere I've lived since I was a teenager in my family home. But as it always goes in life, you never know what wonderful things wait for you around the corner until you start moving. So here's to celebrating the close of a lovely chapter and the beginning of a whole new one!
