We've just arrived back in the UK after a wonderful few days in Gothenburg, Sweden visiting friends. I'd always heard so much about the beautiful Swedish Christmas traditions and being able to experience some of them in person really lived up to all expectations. Despite the short days and heavy darkness, the Swedes fill the season with light - with candles in almost every window, sparkling lights throughout the city and the scent of pine and gingerbread floating through the air. Our visit to the Christmas Village at Liseberg in Gothenburg was one of my most magical Christmas experiences to date. With all the trees glittering with tiny lights, carollers, sweet and gift stalls, games with giant chocolate boxes for prizes, open fire pits to warm your hands; all fuelled by traditional Swedish glögg and gingerbread. You couldn't help but get into the Christmas spirit!
I wish I could send a little bit of this Christmas Village to each of you, but for now there's just these image (more here too!) and a very heartfelt wish that that you all have a most wonderful holiday season wherever it may find you!!
Merry, merry Christmas everyone!!
