A beautiful mix

This morning the sky is overcast and rain seems imminent. This stunning New York duplex designed by Platt Dana Architects feels like the perfect spot to spend a rainy day. The apartment situated in a Flatiron building in New York City boasts amazing views from every angle. Rather than feeling overexposed though, the space beautifully balances bright and open spaces filled with light with warmer, cozier little nooks like the reading room in warm grey tones. While this space feels thoroughly modern, it's still very warm and approachable.

The kitchen was formerly a greenhouse, during the extensive renovation, the architects decided to move the kitchen into this spaceA lot of warm walnut wood tones are used throughout the home, adding a sense of warmth and character.

The minimal glass stair rail appears to float with no visible hardware

There is a lovely mix of sleek modern design - like the minimal glass stair rail and traditional details like the herringbone wood floor.  A Lindsey Adelman chandelier floats above.

Warm grey grasscloth wallpaper and warm walnut tones make this little living area a cozy little retreat. Complete with a wood burning fireplace, this would be the ultimate reading room. The room gets a pop of energy and colour with the orange wishbones chairs and the rainbow of books on the built in shelving units.

The bathroom feels luxurious in slick Asher grey marble tiles. A floating capiz shell floral pendant and framed art add a lovely embellishment and a bit of glamour to the minimal space.
