Every year, there seems to be one distinct moment where it becomes hard to deny that summer has officially ended and autumn has begun. For me that moment was yesterday morning. The chill in the air was tangible, and I realized I was going to have to do what I'd been procrastinating on for some time and start to pull out warmer pieces from my winter wardrobe. The first step in the seasonal wardrobe transition is always to unload the big box of scarves. I tend to wear scarves just occasionally in warmer weather, but come the cooler months they are a staple. I often fall into the rut of wearing my scarves just one or two different ways, and often forget about the whole range of different styles you can achieve with just this one simple piece.
These Hermes scarf knotting swatch cards give illustrated instructions on several easy styles you can try with your scarves. Some of these are more appropriate for warmer weather, but for those of you south of the equator (where I'll be headed in just a few short weeks) will be able to enjoy them as you embark into Spring.
My favourite quick scarf style guide is this clever video from fashion blogger Wendy of Wendy's Lookbook. In just four and a half minutes she goes through 25 different ways to wear a scarf. It's amazing how much just one or two different folds can refresh your whole look.
