Wanted: an injection of colour

Perhaps its the summer, but lately I've been looking around the house and feeling a little underwhelmed by all the neutrals - while it's calm and soothing, it can also get a little boring at times. I've started to notice that more and more I'm drawn to bright, saturated colour - in decor, fashion, flowers - everywhere! I'm on a mission to find some bright accessory to fill this void and get my colour fix.

Photographer Claiborne Swanson Frank's Manhattan apartment was just the inspiration I needed to get started on this plan. Flooded with natural light and outfitted entirely in soft neutrals - the space gets a much needed boost of energy (and personality!) from art, accessories and of course, an abundance of greenery and  bright fuchsia peonies.

Claiborne Swanson Frank's book American Beauty is available through Assouline

Wow, Thanks so much for finding these amazing images. I adore the office one. I too am having issues with colour. I want to use it, but in a very noncommittal way. I could never spend a fortune on a coloured sofa for example because I would be sick of it before it even arrived. These images show the subtle layering of colour and when you really look at them, most things can be done inexpensively.
Thanks you for the inspiration.

Most welcome Lisa! I was very inspired to see them too, I admit I've been a little gun-shy about colour recently but despite the neutral foundation pieces, when I look at these images in the space, the colour jumps out to me right away!

What a lovely house! The lamp of the last photo makes me remember this one: http://www.bocadolobo.com/soho/tribeca.html
